George Carlin said, pride is something you have in things you've accomplished (example: college degree), not in anything you were given (example: being a certain race). Then again, there is nothing we have, nothing we've done, and nothing we can do that God has not given us.
Therefore, there is nothing we can possibly take pride in, that we do not lie to ourselves, even our own accomplishments.
